“Over the years I’ve done a number of things for you people out there in the public. I’ve done things for free... And so tonight I’m asking you to send me money.”

In 1979 the late artist Chris Burden performed a radio piece appealing to listeners to send him money. This performance questioned the value of art and artist’s work; a question relevant for all artists who have “done things for free”. This panel discussion will address successful business practices for artists, considering topics including business planning and the art of asking to be paid for your work.
