Feature-length documentary, Sayaw, explores the culture of ethnic dance communities through the journey of the Jay Loyola Dance Company and its pursuit of a coveted spot in the venerable San Francisco Ethnic Dance Festival.

The film follows renowned Filipino choreographer, Jay Loyola, as he endeavors to cast, rehearse, and audition his troupe for the festival. Featuring interviews of both up-and-coming and established dancers, as well as superb choreography and costuming, the film offers a previously unexplored view of the American dance industry, as experienced by dancers of diverse heritage.

Sayaw celebrates dance as an art form and showcases the unyielding ambition that drives the group and its talent above and beyond the obstacles that the traditional dance world has set before them.

Beautiful. Inspiring. Uplifting.
