About the show:

While living in the US, our heritage stems from the Philippines; and many of us continue to hold a strong bond to our customs & culture. This exhibit explores these bonds through the form of a spiritual connection to both plants and animals. Flora and fauna can symbolize a type of 'grounding' of energies. These plants and animals can provide not only physical sustenance, but can also nourishes our soul, and strengthen our connection to our heritage.

About Epekto:

Epekto Art Projects is a contemporary Filipino/a visual artists collective located in the Bay Area. We began in 2011 and have shown throughout San Francisco and Oakland.  As a collective we strive to cultivate a community for Filipina/o artists, supporting each other’s development through exhibiting, resources, and forming connections. We’ve also hosted panel talks and live mural projects as a way to connect with our community.

There is no one particular genre or one style that we work in. We seek to go beyond stereotypes and push boundaries of how we may be perceived.

Thank you for taking part in our process!
